Our History
Tetenal's heritage in the innovation, manufacture and distribution of photographic paper, chemistry and technologies extends back to 1847, even longer than our partner Kodak which has been synonymous with photography since George Eastman first registered the trademark in 1888.
Timeline
| 1847 | Berlin entrepreneur, Theodor Teichgräber, introduced photographic chemicals for developing collodion plates into the range of pharmaceuticals supplied by his wholesale pharmacy business. |
| 1910 | the TETENAL trademark, later adopted as the name of the company, was registered. |
| 1925 | A 400-strong range of TETENAL branded products, for the professional and amateur photographer was increased with the introduction of X-ray making plates for the emerging medical radiology market. |
| 1962 | alongside the existing offerings for the photographic and medical markets, TETENAL entered a third sector: pre press |
| 1982 | TETENAL launched the first PE-coated b/w photographic paper under the name TT-Speed |
| 1987 | TETENAL simplified the development of slide film with its “E-63 bath†technology, which remains a standard in professional colour silver halide photography. |
| 1989 | TETENAL UK subsidiary established. |
| 1993 | TETENAL established a new environmental standard by offering trade customers a complete cycle of product, supply and disposal. |
| 1996 | TETENAL entered the market for ink jet products introducing innovations in the field of professional image creation. TETENAL remains technologically advanced in DTP and LFP photo-realistic professional ink jet printing. |
| 2006 | KODAK invited TETENAL to recruit new members into the KODAK EXPRESS network and become the official supplier of Kodak products to Kodak Express stores around the UK. |
